Biography
Tim Benjamin was born in Cardiff and became one of Britain’s finest 400m runners of the 2000s. His personal best of 44.56 seconds, set in 2005, places him among the top UK performers historically.
He won 11 major championship competitions, accumulating four gold, five silver, and two bronze medals. His career highlights include winning the World Youth 200m title in 1999, the European Junior 400m in 2001, and silver in the 4x400m relay at the 2002 Manchester Commonwealth Games for Wales. In 2005 he was the highest-ranked British athlete in any event in the world rankings and finished fifth at the World Championships.
He trained with Cardiff AAC and retired in 2009 at age 27 due to persistent injuries.
