Won Olympic bronze in the 4x100m relay at Rome 1960 as part of the Great Britain team. Also won Commonwealth bronze in the Welsh 4 x 110 yard relay at Perth 1962.
Biography
Neville Joseph Nick Whitehead was born on 29 May 1933 in Wrexham. He represented Great Britain at the 1960 Rome Olympics, where he was part of the team that won bronze in the 4 x 100 metres relay alongside Peter Radford, David Jones, and David Segal.
Whitehead subsequently added a Commonwealth bronze medal as part of the Welsh 4 x 110-yard relay team at the 1962 Perth Commonwealth Games.
His Olympic bronze placed him among an elite group of Welsh athletes to have won medals at the Games.
