Biography
Carys Parry was a distinguished Welsh hammer thrower who competed at the highest international level for 15 years. The highlight of her career was winning silver at the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games — only the fifth Welsh female field athlete to achieve Commonwealth medal status.
She won a remarkable 12 Welsh titles including 11 consecutively, and holds the Welsh hammer record with a personal best of 66.80m set in 2014. Her 2008 Welsh championship winning throw of 66.30m remains the best ever winning performance at that championship.
She competed in four Commonwealth Games, finishing sixth at her final appearance in Australia 2018, and won the UK under-23 title in 2003.
